Why do you always ask me if i need assistance?

Because few things make us happier than talking about wine. Give us a challenge, a random question, a weird pairing, or perhaps an abstract feeling you want to achieve.

You could browse our store using Vivino but why not ask someone who’s intimate with the wines, the talented people who grew them, and the beautiful places from which they come? After all, we quite literally drink wine for a living.

What’s the best wine/grape?

A challenging question, like asking a parent who their favourite child is. Each of us may have our subjective opinions, some of which might be held with conviction, but it’s our job to assess wines in a general context, and to appreciate the beauty that makes them who they are.

Why should I drink sweet wine?

Because it’s delicious! The human body is quite literally coded to love sweet things, so listen to what your body wants!

Short answer: Certain things are only beautiful when observed in the correct context. Like a thunderstorm after a long absence of rain.

Why don’t I recognize any of the labels in your store? Are you messing with me?

“We don’t intentionally try to confuse anyone, but rather we import our own wines that we truly believe belong in our market, even if they are out of the mainstream. We’re here to help you navigate our shelves.”

There’s a ton of liquor stores in Calgary. Why would I bother to come to yours?

“Because we care about your desire to enjoy wine, and try to help you accomplish that by listening to your questions and needs. We have a unique selection, thoughtfully chosen, sold by people for whom our living is also our joy. We love to do this in a comfortable, informative (unique) space with zero BS.”

Your focus on European wines excludes other countries like New Zealand and a whole continent like South America. Why?

“Focus is our intention, not a rejection or a lack of appreciation for the glorious, diverse world of wine. We think that we can find a wine style to match that of a region we do not offer, but we do not try to be really good at representing all wine-producing countries.”

How and why do you pick the wines you sell?

“It’s no surprise that we look for the best price-point/quality ratio possible in our wines—actual price notwithstanding. We drink wine everyday on our modest incomes! Therefore, we also like to explore lesser known and appreciated grape varieties and regions. In many of these cases, we can find wines that offer pleasure, discovery and value.”
