Have you ever tried Altesse? Altesse is a white variety cultivated in France’s Bugey and Savoie regions. It sometimes goes by the name Roussette, given that its berries transform into a blushing russet colour as they ripen - but we prefer its aforementioned name, as it literally translates to “Highness”. Franck Peillot and Théo Bonnard are the craftsmen behind this delightful Alpine white, grown in Bugey’s Montagnieu cru. It reminds us of golden apples, beeswax and baked bread. Its river-rock salinity and prancing acidity are palate-whetters and its aromas evoke grassy, flower-specked pastures.
